Re-watch and re-read chapters 1-4 to get back into the story. At the bottom left of each page of chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 you will find short quizzes. Take those quizzes until you get a 100% on all four.
Chapter 5 Read the summary and the analysis and then take the quiz as well and then watch Chapter 5 and then write 1 paragraph responding to this question... In what way does Chapter 5 show a turning point in the story? (hint: Ralph starts to see live as more improvisation, rather than structure, and he starts to become frustrated with his hair) Think about where they were, and now in just a few weeks how his outlook has changed.
Tuesday 4-14
Chapter 6 Read the summary and the analysis and take the quiz. Tell me score on the first time. Watch chapter 6. Write 1 paragraph on how fear of the dark, fear of the unknown, and fear itself plays an important role to the decisions the boys are making on the island. (hint: does fear make us more civilized or savage?)
Wednesday 4-15
Chapter 7 Read the summary and the analysis and take the quiz. Tell me your score on the first time. Watch chapter 7. Write 1 paragraph on what you think the title means: Lord of the Flies. (hint: symbolically think about the idea of a fly, and then to be lord of all of that, that are flies) the answer to this paragraph you are to write is found in how Ralph sees himself, and the other boys as he climbs the mountain, how he sees the ocean, and how he feels after his hunt.
Thursday 4-16
Chapter 8 Read the summary and the analysis and take the quiz. Send me your score. Watch Chapter 8. Make a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting chapters 5-8, with a 7-7-7 between the reading and the movie? Write 1 paragraph to me on your opinion responding to this question: Who has the better philosophy on survival on the island....Jack, who is in favor of becoming more savage and hunting and providing immediately to the survival for the boys, or Ralph, who wants to maintain work, rules, and order in the hope that rescue will at some point arrive?
