- Pretense - lying, faking
- Prodigious - enormous, giant, massive
- misnomer - name that leads you astray
- magistrate - judge; literally a judge
- Partisan - to take a side
- bewildered - confused
- Puritan Plain Style - a culture of life, writing, art, and whatever that was bland
- vain - when you do something for nothing (there's no result)
- Pewter - inexpensive, ugly type of metal
- martyr - person who tries to die to accomplish something
- situational irony - it is irony, when the opposite happens to what you expected
- Dramatic irony - when the audience knows but the characters don't
- verbal irony - sarcasm; when you say one thing but mean another
- theology - study of religion
- calamity - disaster, chaos
- vengeance - revenge, pay back
- aside - when a character shares their inner thoughts aloud
- lechery - adultery
- grapple - wrestle
- 4th wall - the invisible wall that separate the audience from the play. Sometimes gets broken when the cast talks to the audience.
