We've Been in the Lab!

September 12-16 we were in the lab working on our Crucible Newspaper.
Here are the details...

Newspaper Project – The Crucible
American Literature
Fridborg/Civitella
You will create the front and back page of a newspaper from 1692.
Your page must include the following:
1.        ONE HISTORICAL ARTICLE – Using a minimum of 1 source, describe an actual event from the 1690’s – preferably something that can be related to the play. You may choose anything that has occurred during the decade, even though the date on the paper is 1692. The information must be cited parenthetically. The article must be written as if it is an actual newspaper story of the event and must be at least 250 words long.
2.       ONE EVENT ARTICLE – Tell the story of an event in the play as if it is an actual news article describing the event (at least 250 words). The account must be accurate according to the play, but you may include additional invented information to flesh out the story (if it doesn’t go against the story).
3.       ONE INTERVIEW ARTICLE – Create an interview with a character from the play. This must be presented as an article or as a Q/A “dialogue.” The character’s responses to the questions must reveal insights into that character’s relationship to a theme of the play and must be accurate according to the events in the play and Miller’s characterization. This article must be at least 150 words.
4.       ONE EDITORIAL – addresses at least one event in the play. The editorial should be at least 150 words long and gives your opinion on the event.
5.       ONE ADVERTISEMENT OR RECIPE – includes a product or recipe accurate to the time period. Can be invented but must either be a product that would have been found in 1692 or created into a dish.
6.       ONE MEME – create a meme that discusses a theme found within the story. Needs to make the reader laugh but must remain school appropriate. If you wouldn’t be comfortable showing your grandma and Mrs. Wilkes – don’t’ do it. https://memegenerator.net/create - copy and paste or print and paste into newspaper.
