- Slim - quiet man, big and tall. leader and mule driver
- Carlson - powerful, big stomached man. insensitive. Complains about Candy's dog.
- Crooks - stable buck, has a crooked back, African American. Isolated from the workers cabin due to his skin color.
- Curly - boss' son. mean, fighter
- Curly's wife - tart. easy. pretty girl. Was promised to be in the movies, but she doesn't understand that she is just a trophy
