VOCAB 41-60


  1. Deposition - written testimony
  2. perjury -  lying under oath in court
  3.  slovenly - messy
  4.  tyrant - abusive oppressive ruler
  5. sentiments - beliefs
  6. illusion - when you think you see something that is not there
  7. allusion - reference to something everyone knows
  8. insidious - evil
  9. rhetorical question - a question that does not require an answer - it is implied
  10. restatement - saying the same thing over and over but differently
  11. repetition - saying the same thing over and over again
  12. ethos - ethical reasoning
  13. logos - logical reasoning
  14. pathos - emotional reasoning
  15. orator - professional speaker
  16. bandwagon -  joining an activity, cause, etc. that is currently popular (bandwagon fan)
  17. Tories - people loyal to England
  18. paradox - contradiction to itself - jumbo shrimp, rolling stop
  19. consonance - repetition of consonant sounds
  20. assonance - repetition of vowel sounds
